This unique Christian statue depicts the Prophet Elijah, one of the great Old Testament Prophets. Made from Holy Land olive wood and sculpted by Christian artisans in Bethlehem, this lovely wooden statue of Elijah the Tishbite is striking with its life like detail. Elijah prayed that it would not rain and it did not rain for three and one half years. During that time God commissioned the ravens to bring him bread. The statue depicts Elijah with a raven pitched on his arm. Elijah also challenged the 400 prophets of the false god Baal to a duel on Mount Carmel. When the prayers of these false prophets were not answered the Lord answered Elijahs' prayer with fire from Heaven. Elijah then had the prophets of Baal bound and led to the base of Mount Carmel to the Brook Kishon and slayed them there. The statue of Elijah depicts him with the sword at his side. The base of the statue of Elijah is sculpted to resemble the rocky terrain of the land of Israel. The clothing of Elijah and his mantle are intricately sculpted into this awesome olive wood statue. The statue is given a beautiful polyirethane finish to protect the olive wood carving and accentuate the lovely grain of the Holy Land olive wood. Underneath the statue of Elijah you will find the "Made in Bethlehem" seal of authenticity and a certificate of authenticity comes with the statue as well.
