Easter Sunday
From Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, the body of our Lord Jesus laid in a borrowed tomb. For all who loved Jesus this must have seemed like an eternity. However, the Lord had said that He would rise on the third day, but the disciples, like us, were too wrapped up in their own grief and disbelief to remember the promise of the Son of God. Most of us Christians (sadly including myself) fail to take the promises of God truly to heart when trouble comes. Is it not ironic that the chief priests remembered the word of the Lord and asked for and received a squad of Roman soldiers to guard the tomb. These soldiers were the roughest, toughest fighting men to be found, armed with the most sophisticated weapons of that time. Those weapons proved useless as on that Sunday morning the earth began to shake around them and they beheld the most terrifying sight they had ever seen. An angel descended and rolled the huge stone away and sat upon it as if to say "Now what ya'll going to do now!" These rough and tough men ran for their lives as The Lord Jesus came up out of the tomb alive! HE LIVES! HE LIVES! The amazing historical fact that Jesus rose from the dead sets our faith apart from all other faiths. We serve a living, risen Lord! How can we know it's true? Four gospel writers attest to the fact and if they were making the story up they sure didn't make themselves look good! He was seen by many (500 at one time) and His very own disciples who had ran for their lives, and forsook Him at Gethsemane were changed men after seeing the empty tomb and The Resurrected Lord. They boldly served the Risen Lord. And perhaps the strongest evidence of all is the fact that His brother James, after seeing The Risen Savior beleived and became a leader in the early church. As Billy Graham once said, "you can fool a lot of people, but you can't fool your brother." To commemorate this glorious truth Holy Land Treasures offers a wooden replica of the "Empty Tomb." This Easter carving is perhaps the most unique Easter gift that can be found online. If we can help you with any of your Easter gift selections, please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail. Have a wonderful Easter.
